A blog about the little happenings of my life

Ridiculous December 21, 2009

My husband, the Gift Giver, asks me EVERY SINGLE NIGHT what presents we’re going to open that night.  It’s ridiculous.  I’ve already opened a book about the most beautiful places in the US, one of which being a ranch that was in my family before the state bought it as a state park and made the ranch a historical landmark.  Gift #2 was a pair of JMU purple and yellow Nike workout shorts.  I don’t know much about the material, but Jayson says they’re super nice. My third present, YES… THREE PRESENTS OPENED BEFORE CHRISTMAS!!!… was a yellow Volcom scarf.  It’s sooooo soft, and I can’t wait to try it out with my black coat!

I guess I gave in.

Our destination for New Years!!!

Seven days on a luxurious cruise ship, with stops in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, St. Kitts, Dominica, Barbados, and three days in Puerto Rico!

You know I’m going to bust out my West Side Story musical-fanatic weirdness: “Puerrrrto Rrrico!  You lovely island!”

It’s snowing… in Virginia Beach.  Pretty much the most awesome thing ever.

ADHA December 13, 2009

Did you know I’m a member of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association?  Yeah, neither did I.  But I just got some mail from the ADHA…

“Although you are a current ADHA member, our records show you have not yet taken advantage of an important Member Benefit Offer… ADHA’s IncomeGuard Disability Insurance Plan.”

Logically, you’d think that I have to actually BE a dental hygienist in order to be in the American Dental Hygienists’ Association, but apparently not.

My husband cannot, for the life of him, keep a present wrapped under the tree.  He has this theory that we should be able to do Christmas the way we want, AKA: the way HE wants, which means that we end up opening up all of our presents BEFORE Christmas because he can’t handle having gifts for me that I don’t open immediately.  He’s so funny.

Why is life hard sometimes?  Why can’t everything just slip into place like it’s supposed to?  Why do we have to fight for it?

Text message from Dad… December 3, 2009

My Dad has a great sense of humor and 90% of the time he makes us all crack up.  But then there’s that 10% that sounds like this:

A text message from my Dad, after discussing his iPhone with a built-in iPod…

“Just occurred to me that, since we hear from God through reading the Bible, that it could be thought of as… are you ready for this? probably not… as an iGod!!!”

He also wrote that if I share this with anyone he will vehemently deny it.

Shawn McDonald’s “Have You Ever

“Have you ever wanted to be someone else?  Have you ever wanted to be someone?  Have you ever wanted to reach your dreams?  Have you ever wanted life to be more than it seems?

I have tasted of a love so wide that is stops all my time.  I have tasted of a love so deep that it blows my mind.

Have you ever wanted to reach up and touch the sky?  Have you ever wanted to pack it up and say goodbye?  Have you ever wanted someone to care?  Have you ever wanted someone to be there?

He is sweet, He is sweet, what you’re looking for is my sweet, sweet Jesus.

What you’re looking for is my sweet Lord.”
